Sometimes you just want pizza, and you don’t want to have to wait forever to get it. When that happens, this is my go-to recipe. It’s way faster than traditional homemade pizza crusts, and barely takes longer than heating up a frozen pizza or using store bought pizza crust. And I’m pretty sure it’s faster than Domino’s! (Although you don’t have a cool online pizza tracker to tell you what’s happening, you just have to do it yourself).
I got this recipe from my mother, who I’m pretty sure got it from her mother. It was just about the only kind of pizza we ever ate growing up, so it’s definitely a comfort food for me! When I pulled out the recipe card to copy out the recipe when I was going to college, it was full of vague instructions and measurements like “add milk until the dough is the correct consistency”. It definitely took me a few tries to figure that out, but don’t worry, I will give you all exact measurements here!
It’s also pretty much the most versatile dough recipe on the planet. In addition to pizza crust, my mom also used it to make biscuits and cinnamon rolls!
While the recipe below is for pepperoni, feel free to mix up the toppings however you want! A few of my favorite topping combinations are:
- Pepperoni and black olives
- Chicken, artichoke hearts and black olives
- Fresh tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and basil
- Pesto and chicken
Last time I made this I timed myself and it took me 26 minutes from preheating the oven to putting the pizza on the table. Think you can beat my time?
